Vogue Weddings: Kate Bosworth and Michael Polish

Actress Kate Bosworth married director Michael Polish on August 31, 2013.  We were lucky enough to be hired by Conde Nast Entertainment/Vogue to shoot Kate as she did her wedding dress fitting at Oscar De La Renta's showroom in NYC.  Check out the spots we created from this day for the Vogue Channel here:

JUNE SHOUT OUT 2!

We missed a Shout Out last month!  So, this month we are doing 2!!

Our next June Shout out goes to....JENNIE YAMAKI!

Ms. Jennie Yamaki is a kick butt Line Producer based in Los Angeles that everyone should know!  Jennie is honestly one of the most patient, hardworking and detail-oriented people we have ever met.   She gets the job done quickly, efficiently and ALWAYS under budget.  So, in other words…she gets the job done right!  Jennie also has an amazing network and puts together some of the best crews, because everybody loves working with her.  We are no exception.

Before we met Jennie back in 2011, she served as Director of Physical Production for Mandate Pictures and oversaw projects such as Stranger Than Fiction, Juno, Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, Whip It, and Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist.   For us, she Line Produced the first season of Little Women, Big Cars and the Comedy Central pilot, Jimmy Pardo Needs Jokes.  

When she has a break, Jennie likes to spend her time in Hawaii…because that’s where she’s from!  The lucky girl!  

JUNE MONTHLY SHOUT OUT!

We missed a Shout Out last month!  So, this month, we are doing 2!!!

The first June Shout out goes to....JAMES MANN!

Well, what can we say about James?  A cinematographer extraordinaire, James DP’ed both seasons of Little Women, Big Cars for us.  And he rocks!

Based in Los Angeles, James has shot everything from music videos and commercials to documentaries and feature films.  He has a keen visual sense, an amazing eye for detail, and is great with on-the-spot lighting solutions, which makes him an amazing collaborator for Directors.  And best of all—he’s quick with his setups, which we as producers REALLY appreciate!  But don’t tell him we said that.  We don’t want it to go to his head.

In 2009 , James wrote, directed and shot the feature film Desert Son, which went on to win multiple awards, including Best Cinematography from Vision Fest.  You can check it out on Netflix or on DVD now…and you should!

In his spare time, James loves photography; he’s put out a few self-published books of photos, which are incredible.  He also makes his own beer and builds homemade liquor cabinets (which he sells for way too cheap, so you should get one before he figures that out). 

KPP is Emmy Nominated!!

Kids Pick the President, a campaign that we produced for Nickelodeon last fall, has been nominated for an Emmy!  How exciting!

The campaign, which encouraged kids across the country to have a voice and go online to vote for who they thought should be President, was shot in Washington DC at such iconic locations as the White House, the Capitol Building and the Lincoln Memorial.  Over forty kids were featured in the campaign, helping us "get the word out" to other children.  David Rosen directed the spots, which were written by Nickelodeon's Erica Ottenberg.

A huge thanks to the team at Nickelodeon for including us in this campaign and to our entire cast and crew who worked their butts off to make it happen.  You guys are all great!  Congratulations to everyone involved!

Little Women, Big Cars: Season 2 Launch!

We are so excited to announce that our latest project for Vuguru/AOL, Little Women, Big Cars 2, launched TODAY!  

The series was directed by the fabulous Melanie Mayron, created/written by the abundantly talented Sherry Coben, and stars Amy Yasbeck, Julie Warner, Kristy Swanson, Anita Barone, Alexis Denisof, Antonio Sabato Jr, Elon Gold, Krista Allen, Ed Begley Jr, Cheryl Texeria and Cassandra Freeman (who ALL rock, btw).   Our cast and crew on this one were all amazing to work with and we hope that everyone enjoys the show as much as we enjoyed making it!!

APRIL MONTHLY SHOUT OUT!

 

Have you heard of the AMAZING Costume Designer, Maria Hooper? If you haven’t yet, you have been missing out because this girl is the s#*$t. We have had the good fortune to know Maria for many, many years now and since we first met her, we have been amazed by her amazing talent. Seriously, she is amazing.

Maria started sewing at the age of 3. For real. She grew up making her own clothes by looking at outfits in magazines that she liked and saying, “hey, I’ll just make that!”. She always knew she wanted to be a designer and went on to study fashion design at Parsons for undergrad. Once graduated, she started designing for Banana Republic for a few years, but eventually decided that her passion lies in costuming. So she decided to pursue a Masters in Costume Design at Yale ..and the industry should be really glad that she made that choice.

This woman can do anything, she can design anything and she makes your projects look spectacular.  She has the best attitude on and off set, she has an ability to win over the toughest temperaments and, she is never over budget—a producer’s dream!  As soon as you see her work you know that this woman will be at the very top one day ..and we cannot wait to see it happen for her.

Maria has worked on many projects with us, and many without us.  She has designed and styled for us starting with a short film we produced years and years ago. From there she has managed to juggle her time around and design for us on projects such as our commercial for Michael Andrews Bespoke, a couple of our Book of Mom and Memo’s From Your Class Parents promos, our Dr. Mommy: Little Mommy Mattel commercial, Vuguru’s digital feature Don’t Ask Don’t Tell and 18 episodes of NickMom Night Out.

Maria also is our top Storyboard Artist who we have commissioned many times…each time to the complete satisfaction of our clients and Directors.

MARCH MONTHLY SHOUT OUT!!

March’s SHOUT OUT goes to…..ANDY NOVAK!!!

It’s pretty impossible to sum up the awesome Andy Novak in just a couple of paragraphs but we will give it a try!

Andy is a LA-based Production Manager/Supervisor/Associate Producer/Coordinator…you get the point: this guy can do anything! We have been lucky enough to know Andy since we all went to college together back in Boston, but he left us (and the East Coast) for warmer weather after college and has been working his butt off in LA ever since!

This past year Andy has worked on so many things with us.  Most recently, he Production and Post Supervised the web series, Little Women Big Cars 2, that we produced for Vuguru/AOL.  He also Production Managed the NickMom pilot, Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor, PM’d a round of our Book of Mom spots for NickMom, and Post-Supervised Playdate for us—all this year!  Andy is an amazing asset to our productions-- he is incredibly detail oriented and he always keeps a level head to balance out our sometimes (ok, often) spinning ones! He’s also hilarious, so much fun to be around, and makes everybody on our crew feel welcome and part of the team.

Andy is married to his beautiful and talented wife, Nora, and they recently bought their first home.. that has a pool.. that we keep being promised we will be able to swim in.. ahem, ANDY!!!!

Little Women Big Cars 2

 The LWBC2 Ladies: Julie Warner, Amy Yasbeck, Kristy Swanson and Anita Barone

So a few weeks ago we wrapped principal photography on Little Women Big Cars 2!! The first one did so well on AOL last year that Vuguru asked us back again to do another one. Sherry Coben wrote a really great second season in which she did a fantastic job further developing storylines from last season, as well as creating hilarious new ones!

Melanie Mayron returned to direct the second season and we can’t say enough amazing things about Mel. She is fantastic and everyday on set with her is a complete joy.

These low budget shoots can be extremely trying for everyone, especially shooting in a place like LA where they are used to bigger budget shows. But our crew was fantastic and we felt so privileged to be able to work with everyone.

Right now we are in post on LWBC2 and it will be released sometime this spring/summer on AOL. We will be sure to keep everyone updated on it’s release!

MONTHLY SHOUT OUT!

We love the people we work with! In order to show our appreciation for the amazing people that work on our projects, we want to give a shout out to one individual super star each month that constantly reminds us how lucky we are to work in this industry. 

February Shout Out goes to…. TINA PAVLIDES! 

Tina is a Los Angeles based Line Producer who has been working with us since February of 2012. And boy, does this girl WORK! In the last year with us, Tina has LP’ed Playdate, 18 episodes of NickMom Night Out, Little Mommy: Dr. Mommy, Readings from the Book of Mom and Little Women, Big Cars 2. Tina is a fiercely dedicated worker with a heart of gold and has been the glue holding our productions together. She prides herself in putting together top notch crews, running a smooth and efficient set, and, most importantly, making sure the numbers are always where they need to be! We thank her for her overwhelming support & dedication and for keeping us on budget always! 

In her spare time, Tina loves going to the beach, eating seafood, indoor skydiving at the Citywalk and hosting parties for her friends. Little known fact: Tina LOVES to surf, but she can’t ‘officially’ swim! That’s a girl who’s not afraid!
